What residential looks like at Broadview

Our residential program is a structured 30-day track, with flexible extensions when they are clinically appropriate. Because we are a 12-bed program, our clinicians and case managers can get to know every resident and every family, fostering a daily experience that feels less like an institution and more like a small, focused community.

The clinical model is grounded in evidence-based care: CBT, DBT-informed skills, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed therapy. Residents receive four individual therapy sessions each week, alongside daily group sessions and case management.

Who residential is for

Residential care suits adults who need a structured, 24/7 environment to begin recovery, often after medical detox or when outpatient care alone has not held.

We accept clients with co-occurring mental health conditions and complex medical histories. Our physician-led model means we can support a wide range of clinical needs, including cases that some smaller programs are not staffed to take on.

If you are not sure whether residential is the right level of care, our admissions team can talk through your situation and help you decide.

How Our Residential Program Works

Four Individual Sessions Per Week

One-on-one therapy with a licensed clinician is where much of the real work happens, so we build the schedule around it.

Integrated Dual-Diagnosis Care

Substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions are treated together by the same team, no fragmented handoffs.

Family From Day One

With consent, families participate in education, weekly sessions, and discharge planning starting at admission.

Discharge Planning Built In

Outpatient appointments, MAT continuation, sober living, and PHP/IOP referrals are arranged before you leave.

What to Expect: Your First Days

  1. Initial call. You speak with an admissions coordinator who listens, answers questions, and explains what residential treatment involves. This usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
  2. Insurance verification. We run a confidential benefits check so you understand your coverage before committing. This is often same-day.
  3. Clinical assessment. A clinician reviews your substance use history, mental health, medical needs, and goals.
  4. Personalized treatment plan. Your care team designs a plan based on that assessment: therapies, medical support, and, where appropriate, medication-assisted treatment.
  5. Admission and stabilization. Many residents begin in our detox program before moving into residential care, with continuous nursing support throughout.
  6. First-week review. Your clinician checks what is working and adjusts the plan as you settle in.
  7. Step-down planning. As you stabilize, we plan your transition and coordinate the next level of care.

A Typical Day in Residential Treatment

Days are structured for stability, skill-building, and rest.

Therapies and modalities

Our clinical team draws on evidence-based therapies matched to each resident’s needs. Most treatment plans combine individual therapy, group therapy, family work, and medical support.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Identifies and restructures the thought patterns that drive substance use.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Builds emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Trauma-Informed Care

Treatment delivered with an understanding of how trauma shapes recovery, with EMDR-ready referrals when indicated.

Motivational Interviewing

Strengthens a person's own reasons for change.

Family Therapy

Rebuilds trust and communication with the people closest to recovery.

Medication Management

Ongoing medical oversight of medications and, where appropriate, medication-assisted treatment.

Holistic and Experiential Support

Mindfulness, movement, and nutrition as tolerated.

Integrated Dual-Diagnosis and Mental Health Support

Many adults entering residential care for substance use are also managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or bipolar spectrum conditions. Treating substance use without addressing the underlying condition is one of the biggest drivers of relapse.

That is why dual-diagnosis care is integrated into our program: screening, medication management coordinated with our Medical Director, and therapies tailored to co-occurring needs and safety planning.

Our facility

Broadview Recovery is a 12-bed residential facility in Lemon Grove, in the East County of the greater San Diego area. The smaller scale is intentional: it allows individualized care and tight clinician-to-client ratios in a calm, residential-neighborhood setting.

Comfort-focused amenities include private and semi-private rooms as available, chef-inspired meals, hydration support, outdoor spaces for reflection, laundry access, and transportation coordination on request.

What comes after residential

Recovery does not end on discharge day. Most residents step down into continued care, with each step scheduled before they leave.

Common next steps include a coordinated referral to a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient program (IOP), continuation of medication-assisted treatment, sober-living placement, and ongoing outpatient therapy. PHP and IOP are not provided onsite at Broadview;

  • A full onsite continuum. Medical detox, residential treatment, and MAT connect under one team, with family support integrated throughout.
  • Integrated dual diagnosis. Co-occurring conditions are treated alongside substance use, not as an afterthought.
  • A founder-driven mission. Broadview was built on a simple promise: no one slips through the cracks.
