Rise Above • Recover Strong • Embrace the View

Meet the Founders

Four founders united by a single promise: No one slips through the cracks.

Broadview Recovery was built on the belief that no one should slip through the cracks when seeking help for addiction and mental health challenges. Our founders bring together over 50 years of combined experience in treatment, leadership, and community support. Their shared vision was to create a place where healing feels personal, compassionate, and connected to the local San Diego community. From guiding clients through Detox and Residential Treatment, to providing access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Family Support Programs, Broadview reflects the values and dedication of its founders. Each of them brings a unique perspective, but all share the same mission: to restore hope, dignity, and connection through recovery.

A message from Shiva D’amond — Co‑Founder & Chief Executive Officer

“My dream for Broadview has always been simple: to create a place where people feel loved back to life. I’ve seen the way shame and fear can make us believe we’re broken beyond repair—but that’s not true. Every person who comes here carries a light inside them, even if it feels dim right now. Here, you’ll find people who will remind you of that light every single day. You don’t have to prove anything to be welcomed. You don’t have to be perfect to be loved. You just have to show up, and we’ll walk with you until hope returns.”

A message from Mark Ballard — Co‑Founder & Chief Strategy Officer

“My hope for Broadview is that from the moment someone finds us, they no longer feel alone. Whether you’re stepping through our doors or simply reading these words, I want you to know your story matters. You are more than what you’ve been through, more than mistakes or struggles you are worthy of healing and of being seen. Broadview was created to be a place of connection, where people realize they don’t have to walk this path by themselves. That’s my hope for you, and for everyone who comes here.”

A message from Michael Morrison — Co‑Founder & Chief Operating Officer

“Sometimes the hardest part is just taking that first step—picking up the phone, asking for help, admitting that you can’t do it alone. I want you to know that needing help is not weakness; it’s courage. When you come here, you’ll be met with kindness, not judgment. We’ll sit with you in your hardest moments, and celebrate with you in your victories, no matter how small. Recovery is not about being flawless—it’s about finding your way back to yourself, one day at a time. And you never have to take those days alone.”

A message from Brent Ford — Co‑Founder & Chief Financial Officer

“When we started Broadview, what mattered to me most was honesty—because healing only happens when there’s trust. I want you to feel safe here, not just in your body, but in your heart. Safe to be vulnerable, safe to cry, safe to laugh again, safe to believe that life can look different. No matter where you’ve been or how heavy things feel right now, there is hope. We will walk with you at your pace, reminding you every step that your life is precious, and your future is still wide open.”
